I create semi-abstract, highly textured reliefs of the Cornish landscape using a variety of media and techniques.
I’m interested in the striations running through the rock, coincidence of line, the connectedness of things. Not just what you can see in front of you but what lies beneath and just beyond. I attempt to make sense of this other worldly place by breaking the landscape down into areas of colour, texture and patina to find an underlying geometry. My pictures owe more to design and sculpture than they do traditional landscape painting. My work is currently on display in the Shoreline Gallery, St. Ives.
